September 26, 2006 - Ohio Governor, Bob Taft visits AxioMed. ASC was honored to
host Governor Bob Taft during a recent trip to Cleveland. Governor Taft, State
Representative DeBose and Ms. Dora Pruce of Senator Voinovich's office, along with
investors and surgeon partners attended a small open house at the Garfield Heights
office. The Governor was in Cleveland to attend the BIO Mid-America conference
which, highlighted the over 400 bioscience companies in the Cleveland area that are
transforming Ohio's economy and turning Cleveland into a growing national center for
biosciences.
September 27, 2006 - Pat McBrayer participated in Bio Mid-America panel discussion -
- "Strategies for Accelerating Regulatory Approvals", the Midwest's largest annual event
showcasing bioscience and medical device product and platform companies from
across the country. Bio Mid-America is a collaboration between eight state life science
associations and the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). Since its beginning in
2003, the conference has been a place where venture capitalists, start-up bioscience
and medical device entrepreneurs, and other industry participants can meet and explore
funding and investment opportunities and other business partnerships, participate in
workshops highlighting trends in the financial markets and life science companies, and
network with the bioscience and medical device industry's most prominent CEOs and
venture capitalists.
October 10, 2006 - Pat McBrayer spoke at the Fourth Annual Musculoskeletal New
Ventures Conference. Memphis is home to some of the leading players in the spine
industry and is one of the country's most vital centers of musculoskeletal research. For
the fourth year in a row, they hosted MNVC, presenting information for surgeons,
venture capitalists, industry leaders and to educate on groundbreaking new technology
that is changing the field of musculoskeletal research.
November 30, 2006 - Pat McBrayer to participate in the Omeris program on the use of
media publicity to benefit bioscience companies. Omeris is Ohio's bioscience advocacy
group and is coordinating participation from representatives of the local media, venture
capitalists and possibly an investment banker. The goal of the program is to inform
bioscience executives on gaining media interest and utilizing it to attract employees,
customers and investors.
December 4, 2006 - Jim Kuras to participate in ACG panel discussion -- "Growing Cleveland's New Economy—One Company at a Time” sponsored by the Cleveland Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG).
